WHO PAYS FOR WHAT IN A REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION?
There are costs involved in real estate transactions - question is, what
costs are you responsible for? Below is a list of the most common costs although, of
course, these costs may vary from state to state and region to region. Also, whether
it's a seller's or buyer's market, the responsibility of who pays for what can change as
part of negotiations. So, when you look at the list below, please remember that it
is just a general overview:
The seller could generally be expected to pay for the following:

preparation fee for deed
Documentary transfer tax

Any loan
fees required by buyer's lender
Payoff of
all loans in seller's name or existing loan balance if being assumed by the buyer
